May 2009 marked the 230th anniversary of the founding of the State University of Land Use Planning. Throughout the history of the existence of our educational institution, outstanding scientists and teachers who have made up the flower of national science and culture have worked in it. Among them is Ivan Yegorovich Zabelin (1820-1908) - a prominent historian, archaeologist, in fact the first director of the State Historical Museum. Until now, the pedagogical activity of the famous historian remained outside the field of view of researchers, although Ivan Yegorovich himself attached great importance to the dissemination of historical knowledge among the younger generation. In this regard, the State University for Land Management has prepared a book from the series: "State University for Land Management: Scientific, Pedagogical and Cultural Heritage", which is an archeographically processed course of lectures given by I.E. Zabelin in the senior classes of the Konstantinovsky Survey Institute and the School of Survey Surveyors from 1853 to 1871. The lecture materials are published for the first time and, no doubt, will be of significant interest to a wide range of readers. This book can be used as a teaching aid for undergraduate and graduate students studying the history of the our country.
